Vits

It's hard to know what to believe when it comes to the swine flu? Everyone is much a huge fuss over it. Is it mostly media hype? More people die each each from the common flu than they have of swine flu.
Either way, we don't want to get it and we really don't want our kids to get it so although we haven't had the flu shots this is what we are doing for the kids to fortify again sickness.
Joseph has been doing a lot of reading up on what suppliments we can take as a natural way to protect our family. here is what he has discovered.

"One’s best protection is vitamin D3.. One should take 5000 IU a day now and when the disease begins to spread increase the dose to 15,000 IU a day. Vitamin D3 modulates the immune reaction, reducing the chance of an overreaction and stimulates the body to produce what are called antimicrobial peptides, which are powerful killers of viruses that does not involve immunity. This is dose related, which means the higher the dose of vitamin D3 the better the protection. Fish oils
(the best is Carlson’s Norwegian lemon flavored fish oil) also reduce immune overreaction. One teaspoon a day should be sufficient.
For severe symptoms, one teaspoon twice a day. Antioxidants of various kinds also help—this includes, quercetin, curcumin, grape seed extract, vitamin C and natural vitamin E. A good multivitamin/mineral such as Extend Core (www.vrp.com) is also essential."

Having spoken to an nutritionist about what basic supplements a child should take she recommends a multi, Vitamin C and omega 3 everyday.

Missy takes one Dinochew every day. It's a high quality multi vitamin that taste good and it's shipped worldwide (comes from the UK). The tub has 180 vits in so I only have to buy it twice a year.

She also has one Vitamin C supplement per day which I buy locally.

Then there is the omega 3 fish oils, she has a teaspoon per day.

If she shows any signs of illness then to blast her system she has Sinupret which is an excellent immune booster and although there are only 16 servings in this bottle it is used only when the child is showing signs of sickness so it lasts awhile.

Indi-Mindi takes a drop of Vitamin D everyday and this is what has been recommend to strengthen kids immune systems against the flue.

Other things that are very affective for fighting colds and flu are cloudy apple juice (this is even better than orange juice)
And Pure Grapejuice, it's full of iron and I know of people who drink one glass per day as a supplement.

  1. It all sounds great. Elderberry extract (sambucal) has been shown in clinical trials to inhibit type A flu viruses (H1N1 is a type A virus). Also, Oregano oil is a very effective anti-viral for adults. IF you are sick you can up your vit. C to 1000 mg every hour.
May you all stay well, XO
