The End...or the Beginning?

I have known for a while that my love languages is 'acts of service' but never have I had it confirmed to such an extent as I did on Friday when Joseph (out of the blue) suggested I write a list of every thing I wanted done around the house so that on the weekend he could work through the list (ok, so it ended up being a bit of a trade, he got to stay out till 2.30am playing Xbox..but I think I got the better deal)!!! I sat there with a look of glee on my face as I wrote down one thing after another that I have been desperate for him to do for ages.
This weekend of wrap up jobs meant that we have almost completely finished the house!! we live in an also finished house (this is a big deal)...ok, so a house that's 100 years old is never gonna be completely finished but it's fully decorated and the inside jobs to do are minimal. That wasn't so painful after all...just 1.5 years of chaos!
Anyway, here are some before and after shots of the final room to be completed.

Missy's room

Well here it is at last. This is the final room that we have been working on and today we pretty much wrapped it!
This was the cheapest room in the house to decorate, we used just one gallon of paint and I bought single duvet for $29 (Bubbles by Cath Kidston) which ended up being used for both roman blinds and the closet curtains.




I totally fell in love with this Radio flyer car which I found for $22 (reduced from $80)



The shelf was reduced to $10 and I painted it white.



So that's all I've had to buy. The bed was already here when we moved in so it's just had a lick of paint and we made a new head board from plywood and foam.

phew. Now for the major clean up job of getting the house back in order!

Rubber maid

I have spent the last few months accumulating rubber storage boxes so that I can de- clutter our house and literally leave the minimum amount of 'stuff' in our living space. I guess kids make enough mess as it is so piles of junk is not what I need.
These tubs have made for great storage solution because I can label and stack without worrying about the damp. I think I have about 20 boxes down in the basement (it's horrifyingly to think that we have accumulated that much junk)
I can't understand that even with all my storing away the house still gets in a mess and I'm constantly tidying?

Another job bites the dust

And here is the almost completed closet/nursery/sewing room.
We used up paint that we had left over and have now decided it's too loud so if either of us find some energy we might repaint it (I have no intention of finding energy to take that on). This is primarily going to be my sewing room and I really hope to make it into a creative corner that I will actually use? but in the mean time it will be a closet and nursery. I've used embroidery hoops to display some of my favourite pieces of fabric which I have been saving up for this purpose.

Hello

Welcome to my new and improved blog.

We have been beavering away for the last few weeks trying to finish the house but I'm having to hang back now because I've over done it big time.

Joseph has been putting up blinds around the house and I finally made the curtains for our bedroom the laziest curtains out there) I basically took five yards of white fabric and doubled it up putting a seam along the top and the fold at the bottom created my hem these curtains took all of 15 minutes to make!
My glider rocker arrived and it's the comfiest chair in the house which is just as well because I'm going to be living in it soon.
