Cheap fun

When it comes to night clothes I always end up wearing an old top that's not good enough to wear in the day. But a few months ago I saw a friend wearing a lovely Ralph Lauren pajama set and it looked so nice I got me looking out for something nicer. What would I do without e-bay? I found this lilac Ralph Lauren pj set new with tags for $30 and I wore it for the first time last night. What a delight! Just so you know E-bay has pages of Ralph's PJ's for around $30 and most of them are new, not a bad deal if you ask me.

Book

It feels like a long time since I took on a creative project. But this birthday present is sure inspire me to do something. The book full of projects and templates from Cath Kidston and I just love the idea's but most of all the fact that I can finally get my hands on her designs instead of trying to do that free hand.

Ice baby

I've never been very imaginative with our home made ice lollies, I just pour in fruit juice and leave it at that but the other day I made a delicious smoothie with blueberries, strawberries, banana, almond milk, Greek yogurt...you get the picture?
So I used the smoothie for filling the molds and they are going down a treat. Not only are they really tasty but very healthy. Missy usually losses interested after the first few sips of a smoothie drink but she can't get enough of these ice lollies that have the exact same ingredient's in. I thinking next time I could put in some more supper foods like spiralina or omega 3? anything to get the goodness in!

31

Birthday events are as follows...
First I managed to pull off baking my own coffee cake and it actually turned out good (apart from the fact that I remembered to double all ingredient's except the baking powder whoops! so it was kind of dense).
In the morning we went off to Red Rooster for a slice of carrot cake which Indianna was determined to sample.
Then a spot of shopping, I managed to find these three marble apples and this lovely lantern in the sale.
We then came home and made preparations for our little curry party.
I decorated the table in my two favorite colours, apple green and hot pink.
We enjoyed a wonderful dinner with friends which confirmed to us that curry is the best food on the planet (and so is coffee cake).

Sick and tired of being sick and tired

This month has been terrible (hence my absence from the blog). We've been plagued by sickness which is rare for us but this month has made up for all the lack of illness the rest of the year. We haven't quite come out the other side of it yet but I hope we will have by the weekend because it's my 31st birthday and I want to indulge all day.
Dinks (the nickname that's stuck because she's so dinky)has learnt to sit up which she loves and we love.

Here is Missy sick as can be and asleep in the sun.

Spring?

I can't stress how exciting it is to have no snow in our yard on the first week of March (since we've lived here we've had to wait until April to see such a sight). But here is the brown grass in all it's glory and we love it. We even have a the tip of a purple crocus poking through the dead leaves.
This is the first of many days that we will spend on these three steps.

The Oscar Glory

So the Oscars showed up in all their glory last night and the most fun bit was of course the red carpet parade.
This year more than any other I found myself (along with about 15 other people I was watching with) saying 'Oh No, What were they thinking?' over and over.
So here is my choice of best and worst dresses (and best weren't easy to find).

Best:

She barely cracked a smile the entire evening but this dress made up for the misery of Kristen Stewart.

Bare seemed to be a favourite this year as well as last and so does pale skin. I don't think many people can get away with flesh colours but the design of this dress makes up for it and I think Anna looks great.

Kate Winslet almost always gets it right. I don't think she's very adventurous with her colours (she usually sticks to navy blue, black and sometimes red) and this dress isn't my favourite but she has such class and chic style from the 1940's that for me she is a winner just for her pure elegance.

What were they thinking????

Worst:

This dress is a great colour but the whooping great split up the middle and dense ruffles make her look like a purple poodle. I think Zoe did better when she was Blue in Avatar?

5 stars for trying but if your names Vera your already off to a rocky start. This dress is beautifully tailored though I'll give her that.

One word 'NO' and step away from the red carpet to think about what you've done.

Miley, where are your parents? do they know your wearing this?

Not sure about the tie dye affect?

Yes, your bum does look big in this.

Looks like a quilt has been wrapped round Anika?

First prize for worst dress has to go to Miss cup cakes.

This has to be the most worrying look of the night. Sarah Jessica Parker looked really ill, thin, orange and haggard. Poor lady she really didn't look well.
