Come on Christmas just get here!

It's Christmas week (in case you haven't noticed) and I guess I should be beavering around..but I'm not cause everything is done. I've just got a few more Christmas table gifts to finish and then I'm good to go.
Tonight I'm off for a girly night, a present wrapping evening while watching the classic 'White Christmas' which I've never seen!
Joseph is off work from Wednesday which is great. On boxing day we are going away to some friends for two nights so it should be a fun week.
I'll keep you posted on all things festive..and not so festive like the project I did yesterday of making a Cuban cigar box into a coloring pencil case!

For the Neighbours

Yesterday Rachael and Amelie came over to make Christmas cookie's with Missy and I (only I spent most of the time trying to keep Indi Mindi happy).
These ginger cookies are for our neighbours and other people in our community (like our lovely hair dresser).
So today they are all packaged up and ready to deliver. What fun.
I just love the Christmas season and having an excuse to give.
Next thing on the list...our little christmas party...more of that later!!

We took a trip up to Fredericton market on the weekend it was a icy day -21 with wind chill! but we were cozy in the car and I had my sewing project to work on while Joseph drove. You may of seen me make these strawberries before? but this time I making them as the Christmas table gifts for each place setting.

Earring display

This has to be the cheapest gift to make and a really useful one to give.
So all you need is a picture frame which has the the picture set back from the glass.
Ok so you remove everything (glass and all) and place a doubt layer of mosquito net over the back of the frame.

Then put the inner frame over it so that the net is stretched.

Cut out your backing paper.

Then put the back of the frame on and tape down the edges of the net (stretching the net so it is as tort as can be).

And there you have it! a very handy earring display!

Wrappings

Wrapping theme this year is no surprise to anyone! Red with white dots! with real ribbon that has a poinsettia print on. I'm also using a wide red and white striped ribbon for bigger gifts.

Christmas Kick off rules!!

I'd never heard of a 'Christmas Kick off' until I moved to Canada and went to one last year. They are great fun..you should do one.
Basically a bunch of girls get together at the beginning of December for an evening of indulgence and movie watching (you watch a christmasy type movie) drink Eggnog, apple cider, mulled wine ect eat festive foods and celebrate the start of the Christmas season.
This year I've arranged one to be hosted at a friends house who has a projector and we're going to watch 'The Holiday'.
It's this Wednesday, I'll see if I can take some pics and post them on here. Should be fun?

OOHHH!

What could be more perfect on our 'Christmas weekend' to wake up to 10cms of snow and a blue sky? perfect if your 3 years old that's for sure! I have mixed feelings about the arrival of snow, the last two years we didn't see a blade of grass from Dec-April !!!!!!

The start

I started lugging up Christmas decorations from the basement yesterday and I could believe how many boxes there were (more than whats in this photo!).
Anyway, What fun me and Missy had unpacking them all and she is just at the perfect age to really feel the magic of Christmas.
She loves the Nativity scene and spent most of the day running over to give baby Jesus a cuddle and telling me how much she love baby Jesus (what a relief). She also spent time re-arranging the nativity ornaments and it wasn't till later that I found how she had arranged them and could resist taking a photo, they are in little clusters and the stable is pretty much empty!

Today the 8 foot tree arrives and this weekend is our family 'Christmas weekend' we will decorate the tree in the morning and then put the lights up outside before celebrating the start of the Christmas season with a bonfire and hot coco with marsh mellows.
